Our Wines
Vermentino

General
Already recognized as specialists in the wines of Languedoc-Roussillon, our passion for the diversity in the region's grape varieties led us to create the «Les Jamelles Cépage Rare» collection which is aimed at introducing wine lovers to a selection of heritage, forgotten, or little-known varietals that make up the viticultural heritage of southern France.
These wines are the result of a long quest that allowed us to discover vineyards in which the vines thrive and flourish.
We learned to determine their optimal yields and how to best vinify the grapes.

Origin
Vermentino grapes, which have been grown for a very long time on the slopes of Corsica's mountains and along the coast of Provence where they are known as Rolle, seem to have originated in Italy. However, some experts suggest Spanish origin, believing Vermentino to be a mutation of the Malvoisie grape variety. This Mediterranean
grape, which is highly appreciated by consumers, is only grown in this coastal region of Southern France.

Terroir
Vermentino is a late-ripening grape native to the Mediterranean region, which is why it is adapted to the sunny climate and hot, poor soils typical of the Languedoc.
Our Vermentino comes from the calcareous clay terroirs located along the seaside between Béziers and Montpellier.

Vinification
The grapes are harvested early in the morning while the cool temperatures help to preserve the structure of the grapes and limit the risk of oxidation, which can alter the grapes' characteristic aromas and flavours. The grapes are pressed quickly and the free-run and press juices are separated. Vinification takes place at temperatures between 10 and 12°C in order to preserve all of the wine's freshness, minerality and delectable flavour. The wine is aged for 4 months in stainless steel tanks.
